RSRK(the Norwegian Sea Rescue Corps), in Bergen is a volunteer group that crews a 43 ft (12.45m) fast rescue craft stationed on the west coast of Norway.
The corps has about 67 volunteers divided into 4 crew teams. Since RSRK Bergen was established in 2001 we patrolled almost 8000 hours with our first rescue craft RS Sundt. Our current vessel has already clocked up 2500 operating hours January 2009. Our designated area is roughly a 25nm radius from the base but we operate much further than this when nescessary. Our primary objective is to save lives and vessels in distress. In addition we assist in very many less serious incidents as well as promoting safety at sea. RSRK Bergen is part of the Maritime department of NSSR (Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue)
